Hagar Community

Hagar is the largest, Arab Jewish educational community in southern Israel.  Over a thousand adults, children, and youth meet on a regular basis throughout the year for joint holiday celebrations, weekend outings, and the popular Café Hagar, a bimonthly get-together on the campus of the bilingual school. 

Our members are a veritable nerve center for shared society in the Negev.  They play leading roles in public service, non-profit organizations, and the business community, and figure prominently in movements for democracy and equality.  When Arab-Jewish tensions rise elsewhere, the Hagar community serves as a vital platform for dialogue and social cohesion.
